Notes:
Ascher Databook Notes:
This is one of several khipus acquired by the Museum in 1907 with provenance Ica. For a list of these khipus, see UR1100.
UR1141 and AS142 are designated by the same Museum number.
(a) Both khipus have the main cord and all pendants the same color, W.
(b) Both khipus are separated by spacing into groups of a uniform number of pendants: on UR1141 there are 10 groups of 2 pendants each; and on AS142 there are 2 groups of 6 pendants each.
(c) On UR1141, all values are 2024; on AS142, all values are 015.
On UR1141, the sum of the values of the first pendant in each group equals the sum of the values of the second pendant in each group. That is:
\[ \sum\limits_{i=1}^{10} P_{i1}=\sum\limits_{i=1}^{10} P_{i2} \]
In 8 of the 10 groups, the value of the first pendant equals the value of the second pendant. Moreover, these values are the same for 7 of the 8 groups. That is:
P_{i1} = P_{i2} for i=(1,3,5,6,...,10)
P_{i1} = P_{i2} = 22 for i=(3,5,6,...,10)
