This khipu was created using information obtained from Numbers and Relations from Ancient Andean Khipus
by Marcia and Robert Ascher. At that time, the Ascher's did not differentiate between ply direction, attachment, or barberpole vs. mottled cords. This data is missing, and the khipus will need to be remeasured. Lacking that information, I have assumed, that the cords are mottled, for purposes of reconstruction. Additionally, color choices are, at best, best guesses, since I have never actually seen the khipus.
Ascher Databook Notes:
- The six groups each have six pendant cords and a top cord. In each group, position 4 has maximum value, position 2 is next, and position 1 is least. Position 6 never has a subsidiary.
- The top cord is the sum of the pendant cords in all but group 3. The subsidiaries of the top cords do not seem consistantly related to the subsidiaries of the pendants.
- With the exception of 2 cords, groups 3, 5, 6 have all pendant cords the same color within a group while groups 1, 2, 4 have the first 3 one color and the last 3 another color.
