Notes:
Ascher Databook Notes:
  1. This is one of several khipus acquired by the Museum in 1907 with provenance Ica. For a list of these khipus, see KH00110.
  2. KH0157 and KH0158 are designated by the same Museum number. (a) Both khipus have the main cord and all pendants the same color, W. (b) Both khipus are separated by spacing into groups of a uniform number of pendants: on KH0157 there are 10 groups of 2 pendants each; and on KH0158 there are 2 groups of 6 pendants each. (c) On KH0157, all values are 20-24; on KH0158, all values are 0-15.
  3. On KH0157, the sum of the values of the first pendant in each group equals the sum of the values of the second pendant in each group. That is:
    \[ \sum\limits_{i=1}^{10} P_{i1}=\sum\limits_{i=1}^{10} P_{i2} \]
  4. In 8 of the 10 groups, the value of the first pendant equals the value of the second pendant. Moreover, these values are the same for 7 of the 8 groups. That is:
    Pi1 = Pi2            for i=(1,3,5,6,...,10)
    Pi1 = Pi2 = 22    for i=(3,5,6,...,10)
