Notes:
Ascher Databook Notes:
  1. Construction note: The main cord of the khipu is formed into a large loop by having its knotted end passed through its twisted end.
  2. This is one of several khipus acquired by the Museum in 1907 with provenance Ica. For a list of these khipus, see KH00110.
  3. KH0177 and KH0179 are designated by the same Museum number. The main cord of KH0177 has been formed into a large loop. Similarly, KH0179 contains a khipu with a looped main cord.
  4. The sum of the values on KH0177 is 200. The first 6 values sum to 100 and the last 2 values sum to 100. If 100 were to be divided into 6 equal parts where only integral values could result, the values would be 16, 16, 17, 17, 17, 17. These are the first 6 values. If 100 were to be divided into 2 equal parts, the values would be 50, 50. These are the last 2 values.
