1. The khipu is attached to a carved piece of wood. The wood has 8 holes through which the khipu is threaded. Fig 1 shows the way in which the khipu is attached. Fig 2 show more details. (See Ascher and Ascher 1987:815) 2. This is one of several khipus acquired by the Museum in 1899 with the provenance "Marquez". This group includes UR1106, UR1107, UR1124, AS132, and AS133. See UR1106 for a comparison. See Fig 1 also for attachment of this khipu to UR1124 (1000080) |
