  1. The khipu is attached to a carved piece of wood. The wood has 8 holes through which the khipu is threaded. Figure 1 shows the way in which the khipu is attached. Figure 2 shows details of the carving.
  2. This is one of several khipus acquired by the Museum in 1899 with provenance Marquez. This group includes UR1106, UR1107, UR1124, AS132, and AS133. For acomparison of them, see UR1106.
  3. On the portion of the khipu threaded through the wood:
    1. Each group contains 5 or 6 pendants. In all groups, the first pendant and the last 3 pendants are W and, with the exception of the last group, the second pendant is DB.
    2. In all groups, the value on the first pendant is the largest.
  4. Both the khipu threaded through the wood and the khipu appended to it (labeled Detail 1) are made of the same color cords: W, DB, and YG.
